The Evening Standard crazy summer menus happen once a year and when it does, empty your fridge and call your eating out friends. Menus price between 10 and 30 pounds (with or without wine, depending on the restaurant) in the most chic restaurants around town. With regard to Cantina del Ponte, the food was pleasant. All together we had:
Deep fried sardine, rocket, pickled onions & almonds
Roast aubergine, baked ricotta
Grey mullet, tomato, herbs & crushed potatoes
Chicken breast, rocket and tomato
Panna cotta with peaches (*fresh* peaches – divinnneee)
Cantina also has a long and extensive wine list which will make any type of drinker more than happy.
OH and highlight of the night – the (Mezzo?)-Soprano who serenaded Carmen as we ate.
