For all of you working somewhere between Guy-Corcordia and McGill metro station , let me share with you a well guarded secret: Thomson House’s downstairs restaurant. It’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s filling and it’s… DOWNTOWN. Only caveat: the house is technically open only to McGill PostGrads/Med/JD students + guests… so try your luck at your own risk (or borrow your twin’s student ID).
I had the Portobello Mushroom Burger while J had Grilled Chicken Skewers. Except for the wedges that garnished my plate (both dry and chewy at the same time? pretty impressive TH), everything was delicious. The burger appeared small at first, but turned out to be just the right size. Its bun was fresh and soft, and the mushroom, topped with sun-dried tomatoes, had a taste beyond belief! Even J, who despises mushroom, loved the burger. As for the skewers, they were practically gone by the time I took a second shot of my plate – so no pictures of them. We finished the meal with an incredibly moist Tiramisu, and … free coffee refills! All for under $15 each. Truly, a workoholic’s paradise.
