and conveniently, Il Focalaio’s exact contribution to this world.
In true epicurean spirit, P and I decided to meet there to celebrate the weekend’s grand arrival.
While waiting for his highness’ appearance, I figured I would decide on my course for the night. Clearly, I was new at this because one does not simply make an easy decision at Il Focalaio. With well above 70 options of sauces and toppings to garnish the flat bread, navigating through the menu here is a very serious sport.
Still going back and forth half an hour later between #39 la Bomba (mozzarella, olives, and a mixed blend of unending vegetables) and #03 Alle Vongole (garlic, clams, parsley), I needed a drastic measure to help me make an enlightened decision, quick. Blindly pointing my finger to the menu, I let serendipity choose for me: #40 Al Prosciutto.
Prosciutto, mozzarella, and mushrooms, la pizza here is pure pleasure. With a crispy crust, satisfying cheesy cheese and a non-soggy bottom, it comes in generous portions and with lots of toppings. Add a pinch of salt and a dose of chili oil and your desires will be answered for the night.
Should you try Il Focalaio anytime soon, don’t leave without tasting their Brazilian Coffee. A good dose of brandy concealed under a strong taste of coffee, it’s the cherry on top of a perfect Friday indulgence.
