[French: L’Express] Morning Tradition

and we had no difficulty believing her.

L’Express, a French classic on rue Saint-Denis, is a ritual for many. The staff, impeccably dressed in black and white, greets every couple by name. The regulars, on their way to their table, always find a friend to kiss and bless.

Morning food at L’Express is straight to the point and agreeably so. The menu lists all the elements available for you to mix and match. Fancy some poached eggs and bacon? You’ll get poached eggs and bacon. No distracting sauce on top, no exuberant description. The dish comes with one slice of tomato and a sprig of parsley for a touch of color, but that’s all.

Unlike what you may think, breakfast here is more than affordable. Eggs, bacon, crispy baguette and café au lait come to a mere $11.
